Telangana Assembly to Pass Resolution Seeking Bharat Ratna for PV Narshima Rao

Amid growing demand for Bharat Ratna to be conferred on former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao, the Telangana State Legislative Assembly will pass a resolution during the monsoon session scheduled to commence on September 7. Besides, Necklace Road abutting Husssain Sagar will be renamed PV Gnan Marg and a PV Memorial will be constructed in the city.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao took these decisions at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday during a review meeting on the ongoing year-long birth centenary celebrations of Narasimha Rao.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said Narasimha Rao was a symbol of Telangana and a great reformer who implemented many reforms in the country. He said Narasimha Rao was a son of Telangana soil who grew up to become the Prime Minister and also a world renowned gentleman. “We will discuss the achievements of this outstanding person in the State Assembly at length and also pass a resolution seeking the country’s highest honour Bharat Ratna for him,” he added.

The State Assembly will honour Narasimha Rao by unveiling his portrait on the premises, while the State government will also request the Centre to take up similar honours in the Parliament. The government also decided to pass a resolution in the Assembly asking the Union government to rename the Hyderabad Central University after the former Prime Minister who established it.TT
