Hyderabad Private Hospitals Continue to Insist on Cssh Despite Warning By IRDA
Private Hospitals the city are continuing to insist on cash for treating Check Covid19 Patients This, despite patients having valid insurance. While the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has warned hospitals against this practice, patients in their desperation are being forced to raise money any way they can.

Speaking to STOI, Bindu Madhavi said she paid Rs 17 lakh in cash to a private hospital in Banjara Hills for her husband’s treatment. “Now, neither do I have my husband nor any money. I was forced to beg and borrow from relatives and colleagues. They raised around Rs 10 lakh. For the rest, I had to dip into my own savings,” she said.

In another case, Kireety M whose father is admitted to a hospital in Secunderabad said, “We have amassed a bill of around Rs 10 lakh for 21 days. Hospital authorities said they would not accept insurance because of difficulties in getting reimbursed.” He said that family members stepped up to transfer the money. “I do not know how to repay them after the treatment is completed,” said the youth who has just completed his undergraduate TOI
